Libraries Week

  23rd January 2018

Libraries Week runs across the country on 8 - 14 October 2018. (It replaces National Libraries Day, previously held in February.)

The event is open to all types of library, with public libraries encouraged to showcase their strongest services and activities across themes such as digital, creative, family, inspirational, health, employment collection-based or education. Libraries can also become supporters, helping to promote Libraries Week in their region or service. There will be support for libraries to get the most from Libraries Week.

Schools could partner public libraries for events, or raise awareness of the local library and the services available that might be helpful to students. What about running a competition around what students might like in their library, or staging a discussion on libraries in the 21st Century - that could raise some interesting issues!
