Althorp Literary Festival
22nd August 2017
Played out against the backdrop of one of Britain's most spectacular private historic houses, Althorp Literary Festival is a literary event like no other. Now in its fourteenth year, the event has previously played host to over 300 of the biggest names and this year is no exception. Taking place from the 5th – 8th October amongst the exciting events already confirmed for 2017 are talks and signings with authors including: award-winning broadcaster, journalist and author Clare Balding OBE; festival favourite The Rev. Richard Coles; Newsnight presenter Evan Davis; Scottish tennis coach Judy Murray, and authors, historians and TV presenters Dan Jones and Kate Williams.
Set in the 500-year-old estate and grounds of Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the festival is part of a rich literary heritage with George John, the 2nd Earl Spencer, amassing one of the greatest private libraries in Europe. With Althorp House closed off to the public for most the year and places for this unique event at a premium, it’s not an opportunity to be missed.
